Rhodium
Chemical symbol: Rh
Specific gravity: 12.44 g/cm3
Colour: anthracite grey
Melting temperature: 1964?C
Rhodium is considered a rare transition metal, hard and anthracite grey in colour. The main characteristic of rhodium is connected to the reflective property. It is mainly used as a binder for alloys with platinum and palladium in order to give greater hardness. These are used for thermocouples, electrodes for spark plugs in aeronautical engines, crucibles in laboratories, windings for furnaces and drawing dies for the production of glass fibres.
The corrosion resistance and contact resistance stability makes this metal ideal for making electrical contacts.
The rhodium sold by Banco Villa is supplied in powder dosed in packs of 100 or 500 grams for galvanic use and for the preparation of dental alloys. Alternatively, it can be offered in ready-to-use solutions of 2 grams/litre, diluted or concentrated, for the rhodium plating of jewellery and metal parts.
